청주의 옛 연초제조창을 기록한 앞서 나온 『동부창고』는 아카이브성격으로 3가지 주제를 다루고 있습니다. 벽화, 버려진 물건들, 방치된 건물. 동부창고의 두번째 사진집인 『인수인계』는 좀 더 작가의 심미적인 시선으로만 구성된 사진집입니다.
"이재복 작가의 언어는 직설적이다. 평상시에도 에둘러 말하는 법이 없다. 이번 『인수인계』 사진집만 봐도 그렇다. 동부창고의 고전적 역할에서 새로운 문화공간으로 바뀌는 시점에 촬영된 이 사진집은 ‘업무를 넘겨받고 물려줄 때’ 쓰는 인수인계(引受引繼)라는 다소 직설적인 용어를 사용했다. 또한 그의 사진은, 시간의 흐름이 느껴지는 건물 외벽, 공사 잔해들로 가득한 현장, 지붕은 사라지고 목조 골격만 남아 있는 모습 등 주어진 풍경을 억지로 꾸미려하지 않고 공간의 ‘날 것’ 그대로의 모습을 담고 있다."
Disappearing and appearing, a story in between
Lee Jae bok's photo collection, 'Dong Bu Chang Ko', is a book that records the warehouse of an old cigarette manufacturing plant in Cheongju, and deals with three themes: murals, abandoned objects, and abandoned buildings. The second photo collection of Dong Bu Warehouse, 'Take Over', is a photo collection composed solely of the artist's aesthetic perspective.
"Lee Jae bok's language is direct. He does not beat around the bush even in everyday life. This can be seen just by looking at the photo collection, 'Take Over'. This photo collection, taken at a time when Dong Bu Warehouse was changing from its classic role to a new cultural space, used the rather direct term 'In Su In Gye', meaning to take over and pass on work. In addition, his photos do not try to forcibly decorate the warehouse scenery, such as the exterior walls of the building where the passage of time can be felt, the site filled with construction debris, and the roof disappearing and only the wooden frame remaining, but capture the raw appearance of the space."
