사실 이것은 책이라기보다 제본되지 않은 낱장의 타블로이드판 사진입니다. 대형 (8x10, 4x5) 카메라의 눈을 통해 본 것은 바위와 얼음, 그리고 진흙이 만들어 낸 뻘입니다. 사진작가 박명래는 십여 년 전부터 탐험가처럼 험지를 찾아 이를 대상으로 사진을 찍습니다. 그런데 그의 눈에 비친 자연은 마치 어느 누구의 손길이 닿지 않은 미지의, 그래서 처음으로 속살을 드러낸 어떤 유기체와 같습니다. 그래서 그의 바위, 얼음과 뻘은 완전한 풍경이 되지 못한 채 자연의 피부로 발견됩니다. 그는 바위를, 얼음을, 뻘을 보지 않고 그것들의 주름과 햇빛에 그으름과 진토의 탄력을 마주하면서 자연의 경건한 호흡을 따라 숨을 쉽니다.
이 사진집에서 그는 색을 지우고 밝음과 어두움만을 남겼습니다. 밝음과 어두움이 때로는 자기 확장의 면목을 보여, 서로 다투기도 하지만 서로가 서로에게 어떻게 의지하고 내밀하게 지탱하는지를 보여줍니다. 그는 그의 대상들을 카메라의 눈을 통해 명암과 질감, 그리고 탄력과 호흡의 마사지를 합니다.
In fact, this is not a book, but rather a tabloid photo that is not bound. What I see through the eyes of a large format (8x10, 4x5) camera is rocks, ice, and mud. Photographer Park Myungrae has been visiting rough terrain and taking pictures of them like an explorer for over ten years. However, the nature reflected in his eyes is like an unknown organism that has not been touched by anyone, and thus has revealed its inner self for the first time. That is why his rocks, ice, and mud are not complete landscapes, but are discovered as the skin of nature. He does not see the rocks, ice, and mud, but breathes along with the reverent breathing of nature, facing their wrinkles, the sunlight, and the elasticity of the mud.
In this photo book, he erased the colors and left only light and dark. Light and dark sometimes show the aspect of self-extension, and although they fight with each other, they show how they depend on each other and support each other intimately. He massages his subjects with light and shade, texture, elasticity and breath through the eye of his camera.
